Asklaila-Street Smart goes vernacular

We live in a country with 400+ mother tongues, 30 languages spoken by atleast 1 million ( ~population of Mauritius) native speakers. We like English flicks but their is no fun like a local language movie. We subscribe for Times of India but there is also a subscription for Dainik Bhaskar, Eenadu or Malayala Manorma. Reason is simple – We might speak, understand and write in many languages, but we always think in our mother tongue. If you relate to this, we have an exciting offering for you.

Asklaila reached 1700+ cities in India before Internet did. And straight away we were glaring at an issue – how do people reach our data, in tier II and tier III cities?

Our problem got resolved with mobile revolution, increased mobile internet penetration made sure that our audience had a medium to find reach us. Thus, we launched our mobile app ‘Asklaila-Street Smart’ with aim of turning mobiles into a pit stop to all local search queries, a personal local guide.  But??

What if users not understand or are not comfortable with the language this guide speaks?

Only 33% of Indian population understand English of which only 9% is comfortable with English (English Speaking). So here we are evolving for good as always :

Asklaila – ‘Street Smart’ now goes vernacular – supporting browsing in 8 languages English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. And we will add to this list in coming time. Now search Restaurants, Movies, daily utility services in languages you love.
